Eames House Bird | Vitra | Black

For decades, the carved figure of a wooden bird has occupied a central place in the Eames House, as an especially prized artefact among the possessions of Charles and Ray Eames. The Eames House Bird became really popular in the 1950s when Charles and Ray Eames took it from their own living room and used it in a poster with DKR Chairs. They also used the bird a lot in photoshoots as a decorative object in photo shoots and the masterfully simplistic black/walnut bird with its tapered beak and sleek tail was evidently one of their most prized objects of Appalachian folk art. Vitra used 3D scans of the original bird to create the solid alder wood reproduction.
